Please see our answers below to the most common questions we get asked:

1. What age does my child have to be?

Our courses are designed for children 2-7 years with the exception of Wheelers in motion which is for ages 4-9. Please see our learn to cycle courses page for more information about our different courses. 1:1 lessons are also available for older children.

2. My child is 4 and is on the borderline between both courses?

If they have had previous experience of using a balance bike we recommend starting with Transition to pedals. If they are currently on a bike with stabilisers or have not been on a cycle at all then our recommendation is to start with Balance bike beginners before progressing onto the next course.


3. My child is a little bit younger than 4 and can already ride a balance bike confidently?

That's great, they can start on our Transition to pedals course, no problem.


4. Do I have to book to attend a course?

Yes! All course bookings need to be made via our online bookings system, link.

5. Do I leave me child and pick them up?

No, we do ask that parents stay and supervise their children and participate when required in the lessons.

6.  When should I arrive for my sessions?

Please arrive up to 5/10 minutes before to ensure your child is kitted up ready to start!

7. What happens if we miss a session or can't make the first week of the course?

Please let us know if your child is unable to attend a session as we might be able to arrange for them to attend another course running the same week. We don't want your child to miss out and will aim to spend a bit of time with them at the end of the class if we feel they need it (Transition to pedals).

8. What should my child wear?

Please ensure your child comes dressed in suitable clothing including trainers and gloves and bring something waterproof for outdoor sessions. We ask that flip-flops, wellies and long dresses are not worn for health and safety reasons. 

9. What equipment do we need to bring?

Please bring a cycle helmet for your child to wear as these must be worn at all sessions. Any extra safety equipment you would like to bring such as knee and elbow pads can also be worn but are not compulsory.

10. Is there anything I can do between classes to help my child?

Of course! Any practice outside of class will help your child's development of skills being learnt. The one thing we don't recommend is using bike stabilisers or other balancing aids as this may hinder your child's progress.   


11. Are sessions ever cancelled?

From time to time a session may be cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions, venue issues or staff illness. If this is the case an email will be sent out as soon as the decision to cancel has been made. An additional session will then be added to the end of the course however if this is not possible a refund for the missed session will be offered. Please check your relevant areas Facebook page for further updates in the event of bad weather.
